April is Poetry Month

April is Poetry Month.  We will be reading poetry and I will be encouraging students to write their own poetry.  Poetry is a great way to use your imagination and express your emotions.  We will be taking a look at a unique type of poetry, Reverso.  Just search Reverso poems and your sure to find lots of examples.  My favorite poet is, hands down, Shel Silverstein.  Have you heard a good poem??  E-mail me @ nicole.gonzalez@wesdschools.org so I can read it!  I would really enjoy it!

Wow! Time has just flown by, hasn't it?  It seems like just yesterday we were just starting back and now the end of the year is coming up so fast.  Please make sure to check with your students to see if they have any overdue Library books.  All overdue books need to be turned in right away because soon I will begin sending overdue notices home.  If a book is lost, a fine will be charged so we can replace it.  If you have any questions regarding overdue books or any other Library questions, feel free to call me at (602) 896-6509.

Welcome back Mustangs!

Welcome back!  I hope you had a wonderful summer.  Did you read anything good?  I caught up on the two Diary Of a Wimpy Kid's that I hadn't read yet.  Fun summer reading!  I am currently reading "A Wrinkle In Time" by Madeleine L'Engle.  A much more serious read, but a good story.

The first book fair will be here before you know it.  It is scheduled for the week of October 30th through November 3rd.  I am hoping to see you there.

Hope to see you there..  Have a WONDERFUL school year.

April is National Poetry Month.  We will be "celebrating" by reading different poems during Library.  On April 27th we will celebrating Poem In Your Pocket Day.  We ask that everyone, staff & students, write down their favorite poem and keep it in their pocket that day.  If someone comes up to you and asks you to share your poem, you can read it to them.  Fun!

Beginning Monday, March 6th, we will be holding a  FUNdraiser to promote reading and to raise money to buy Library books and other resources that are needed for our Library.  It's easy, students just create their Reader Page and share their page link via social media and e-mail with friends and family around the world.  To show their support, they can donate through the Reader's Page using credit cards, debit cards, and paypal.  It's a fun and easy way to encourage reading and also help our Library get the resources we need.

Chipotle reading program

posted Dec 8, 2016, 1:11 PM by Nicole Gonzalez

Chipotle restaurant is helping promote reading by sponsoring a reading program for the month of December.  They should have brought home a reading log in November. Your child colors in each day that they read 10-20 minute.  Once December is finished, they turn it into your teacher for a Chipotle reading reward.

Thank you!
